Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) was a prolific writer most known for his series of books featuring his character, Tarzan, as well as the John Carter of Mars series. He was born in Chicago and lived in Oak Park, Illinois for many of the most productive years of his writing career, from 1914-1919.
