About the Author

Stanley Mcqueen was raised on a small twenty-six acre tobacco farm in the back hills of Kentucky. His family lived in an old frame house with no insulation and an ancient heating stove that burned coal. His father was a share cropper, but the little tobacco base on his small farm was not enough to make ends meet for their large family. Stanley's dad farmed full time and drove the County school bus part-time. "I'd never traveled further than Ohio before I was drafted into the military and served one year in South Korea in Hawk Missiles," says Stanley. "When I returned from the army we had running water in the house - and a bathroom with a commode inside. I thought we were rich folk!" "I love the outdoors, family, friends and animals....the simple things of life. I believe that God loves all of us the same. He doesn't look at what we own or how pretty we might be - he looks at the inside of us. I think pride is a bad thing. If we think we are better than others, we only fool ourselves. I hope you enjoy the simple folk in my books. They are all based on people I have known in my life. I have written little stories since I was ten years old - it's been something that I love doing. To make someone smile reading one of my stories makes me smile and happy at heart." Stanley Mcqueen is the author of THE FOLKS FROM MUDDY FORK and a second book, MORE FROM THE FOLKS OF MUDDY FORK.
